    Character

Glenmore is the family-friendly gated golf community of the Charlottesville luxury market. Density is higher than Keswick Estate, with a mix of single-family estate homes, low-maintenance cottages, and homesites along golf and equestrian frontage. About 500 acres of common greenway, walking paths, and a private year-round country club lifestyle define the experience. Buyers skew toward young families, established professionals, and active retirees who want resort-style amenities, security, and quick access to downtown Charlottesville (10 miles) and UVA. Many homes overlook the golf course; the southern Rivanna River corridor is visible from select lots, with Monticello in the distance.

    History

    How Glenmore came to be.

Named for: Per local broker historical context, the community name traces to the historic Glenmore plantation, once associated with Thomas Mann Randolph Jr. (a son-in-law of Thomas Jefferson).

    Albemarle County's largest gated community.

1,300 acres total, with 500 acres maintained as common land/greenway and 824 (Wikipedia) / 813 (Cvillepedia) homesites depending on source.

Glenmore has its own equestrian center on site.

In 2009 the Glenmore Community Association lost more than $600,000 after the GCA's then-president/treasurer Mike Comer disappeared; he was later arrested and charged, and developer Glenmore Associates repaid the funds within a year.
